FLINT, MI – Mott Community College will be taking over Brush Park in downtown Flint for the Welcome Back Event of the Year in conjunction with Beats x Beers this weekend.
The Fall Fest, designed with Flint-area middle and high school students in mind, takes place from 6 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, September 18 at Brush Park, 120 E. 1st St., in downtown Flint.
The college partnered with Beats x Beers to host this first-ever live music-filled festival featuring MCC’s jazz band, DJs, free food vouchers, food trucks, a sales area with performers. and local entrepreneurs, and larger-than-life games to challenge your friends and classmates, according to an MCC press release.
“We want to celebrate with the students who have been through a difficult 2020-21 school year by kicking off this school year with great music, great food and lots of fun,” said MCC President Dr Beverly Walker- Griffea. “Brush Park provides a great location for all of us to gather safely.”
The Consumers Energy Foundation is sponsoring free food stamps for the first 500 people to visit the Consumers Energy vendor table at the event.
Other sponsors for the event include Health Alliance Plus, GST Michigan Works !, the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, and the Protect Michigan Commission, who will be on hand to provide free COVID vaccines from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, according to the statement. .
MCC is teaming up with the 2021 Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament which will take place in downtown Flint on Saturday September 18 and Sunday September 19. The college will host the KidZone from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. before the Welcome Back Fall Fest.
