Podcast fans, rejoice: Rebecca Lavoie is on deck.
The seasoned NHPR employee knows podcasts from all positions in the industry – she has been a longtime news writer as well as a respected podcast producer, host and critic. This week, she was appointed director of audio at the behest of the NHPR.
âI am thrilled to lead the RPSN podcast team, which is as talented and ambitious as any in the industry – inside and outside of public radio,â said Lavoie, adding that she was looking forward to growing the NHPR podcast audiences and the addition of new innovative content.
Lavoie joined the NHPR in 2010 to produce the daily magazine Word of mouth and most recently served as Director of Audience and Engagement. It has played an increasingly important role in establishing the newsroom as a multiplatform journalistic medium.

Outside of the NHPR, Lavoie is the creator and host of Criminal writers on … the best-selling podcast that reviews other podcasts, TV and real media adjacent to crime. She hosts the Netflix podcast You can’t make it up, one of the many shows produced by his company, Partners in Crime Media. She is also the co-author of four real mainstream crime titles. When not writing, producing, or bringing new ideas to the NHPR audience, Lavoie is a popular speaker at conferences and industry events focused on podcast strategy, trends in industry, monetization and audio journalism.
