Penn State overwhelms Maryland and builds late-season momentum

Penn State didn’t leave much doubt about the result against Maryland on Saturday, taking a 27-0 halftime lead and staying in control throughout a 30-0 win. Fresh from the Beaver Stadium press box, we’re back to break down a Big Ten game that took the No. 14 Nittany Lions 8-2.

We weave our way through key storylines for a second straight conference win, including another Penn State pass rush assault, a pair of fourth-touchdown sprints for freshman running back Nick Singleton and an impressive effort produced by a limited offensive line with injury issues.

The Nittany Lions clearly looked like a motivated team in November, and there’s a lot to appreciate in the positive momentum PSU has established. With a 10-win regular season and high-level bowl still achievable, a mix of current success and long-term optimism is on the cards.

Additionally, we sort out the absences of players from the Maryland game, highlight special teams developments, and highlight the unscheduled return of a previously injured Nittany Lions defenseman.
