Meghan Markle attempts to drop age-old trademark of ‘archetypes’ for upcoming podcast, World News

Meghan Markle wants to drop the historic word ‘archetypes’ after she announced the word would be used as the title of her next Spotify podcast.

According to a report by British newspaper The Daily Mail, the 40-year-old Duchess of Sussex already filed the application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in March.

The document also mentions that the list of goods and services in the request includes everything “in the areas of the cultural treatment of women and the stereotypes faced by women.”

“Anything” means anything related to podcasts, television, DVDs, computer networks, the Internet, streaming media, and entertainment services delivered via cable or satellite television.

The request was apparently made by Archewell Audio, which is owned by Prince Harry and Meghan and is based in Delaware, a US state considered a tax haven.

In case they get the trademark, that would mean Harry and Meghan own the trademark rather than Spotify. The music streaming company paid the couple an alleged $31 million to produce podcast content for their platform.

Reports added that she could only face legal challenges because of the trademark application. A skincare and cleansing company with “archetypes” as names could sue her.

Harry and Meghan’s Spotify podcast will finally debut this summer, the Archewell Foundation had announced, and will be hosted by Meghan. It will be aimed at historians and women’s specialists.

In a trailer for the Archewell Audio Project, Meghan said: “This is how we talk about women: the words that lift our daughters up, and how the media throws women back at us. But where do these stereotypes come from? And how do we continue to appear and define our lives?

“I’ll be having conversations with women who know all too well how these typographies shape our stories. And I’ll be talking to historians to understand how we got here,” she added.
