Mandy was asked to answer this question- You should vote for me in the Greenmeadow election because– and here is his answer

Hello everyone, my name is Mandy Owen. I’ve lived in Greenmeadow most of my life. I grew up here, moved here when I got married, and raised my family here in the heart of the community. Since 2012 I’ve also been a Local Labor Councilor for Greenmeadow – and I hope you’ll vote for me again in Thursday’s local election.

Being the best Greenmeadow representative I can be is something I’m proud of. I have supported local residents with issues that matter to them, such as antisocial behavior and housing. I held regular meetings and walks with the local community support workers and community housing managers, as well as joint surgeries with the police and Bron Afon to resolve lingering issues on the estate.

If re-elected, I will continue to work with other agencies and remain as visible, accessible and available as I have been for the past 10 years.

I have been heavily involved with local groups and organizations, helping run the local community hall, raising funds and organizing collections for local charities and good causes. Since the start of the pandemic, I have organized several collections of toiletry donations for NHS patients and I continue to be amazed by the kindness and generosity of my neighbours.

I have also volunteered at Co Star twice a week, helping with the food sharing program, packing and delivering support packages to those in need, running errands for vulnerable residents and collecting prescriptions for those who cannot leave the house. Sad to say, but as we emerge from lockdown and the cost of living crisis begins to bite, these services are needed more than ever – and I will continue to stick around and defend Greenmeadow for as long as it takes .

Thanks to your continued support, I have held important positions on the board of Torfaen over the years. I had to make tough decisions while always ensuring that our frontline services were protected, including social care and education. I was fortunate to make these decisions within the wider Labor group, doing our best to meet the needs and aspirations of people across the borough. I am as proud to be Labor as I am to be Greenmeadow.

So please if you live in Greenmeadow vote for me Thursday the 5thand May. And if you live anywhere else in the borough, consider voting for the rest of the Labor team as we campaign to build a better future for all in Torfaen.
