Holiday events in the Alle-Kiski valley


• The Apollo Area Historical Society and the Apollo Events Committee will be sponsoring a free night with Santa and Mother Christmas from 6 to 9 p.m. on December 4 at Drake Log Cabin in the borough. There will be a bonfire, hot drinks, cookies and an opportunity to visit Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. There is no parking at the hut. Parking will be available at Apollo Plaza.


• Brunch with Santa will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on December 5 at the American Legion, 235 Commercial Ave. There will be a bake sale to benefit the fire department and a photo opportunity with Santa Claus. Cost: $ 10; 5 to 10 years, $ 5; under 5, free. Profits go to the American Legion and firefighters.

Township of Buffalo

• The Freeport Key Club will be holding a toy drive from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm on December 2 in High School Inner Circle, 625 S. Pike Road, to benefit the Freeport Food Bank. New unwrapped toys welcome.


• Christmas in Cheswick will take place from 3 pm to 5 pm on December 11 at Memorial Park, Maple Street. Santa and Mrs. Claus will meet the children and there will be music, hot chocolate, cookies and s’mores. Sponsored by the Régie des loisirs of the borough. Details: [email protected]


• Breakfast with Santa will be held from 10 am to noon on December 5th at the Fawn Volunteer Fire Department, 497 Lardintown Road. There will be crafts, face painting and raffles. Cost: $ 10. Ticket office: fawnfireevents @ gmail. Profits go to Fawn Fire Departments # 1 and 2.

Free port

• Freeport Celebrates a Christmas in a Small Town, sponsored by the Freeport Renaissance Association, will take place on December 4 in the borough. Events include a breakfast with Santa from 8:30 am to 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, a flea market from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Freeport Area Library and a parade at 5:00 pm. • A Christmas concert to benefit Fostering Music will be held at 7 p.m. on December 11 at the Freeport Event Center, 325 Fourth St. Performers will include Chip and Maleena Dominick, Miss Freddye, JeniferCQ Lynn Baker, J. Roger Davis, Utah Burgess, Curtis Fanciscus, Amanda Noah, Jessi Boldi-Norris, Cook McCoy, George C. Fischer, and Katelyn Hemphill. The house group will be Halfway Down. Cost: $ 15, in advance; $ 20 at the door depending on availability; under 12, free. Tickets: Fostering Music offers music and instrument lessons to children currently housed or adopted out of the foster care system.


• A Stuff A Bus event for Toys for Tots and Highlands Family Center will take place from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on December 4th at Highlands Middle School on Broadview Boulevard. New unwrapped toys and monetary donations appreciated. Sponsored by the Highlands High School National Honor Society.

• Protectors of the Phoenix will be hosting a Stuff A Trailer event from 11 am to 3 pm on December 11 in the Heights Plaza parking lot near Wendy’s. New toys for all ages, diapers, wipes and clothing welcome. Donations will help Allegheny Family Network. Details: 724-681-8247.


• The Lutheran Ministries of Concordia will be hosting its annual Live Nativity on December 12 in front of the Haven II Building, 148 Marwood Road. Performances last 15 minutes and start at 4:30 p.m., 5:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. Hot drinks and refreshments will be served outdoors, and freebies will be provided for guests 12 and under. Canton of Kiski

• The Township of Kiski will be celebrating Light Up Night from 6 pm to 8 pm on December 4 at the fire station, 1037 Route 56. Bring a decoration for the tree. The tree will be decorated at 6 p.m. and illuminated at 6.30 p.m. Children can visit Santa from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and there will be activities, refreshments and treats. A letterbox for letters to Santa Claus will be at the fire station until December 19.

• The New Beginnings and Vandergrift United Methodist Churches will sponsor a live nativity scene from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on December 11 at New Beginnings Church, 1559 Route 56. There will be drive-through and walking access, light refreshments and a gift for children.


• The annual Luminate Leechburg Holiday Celebration will take place from 1 pm to 10 pm on Saturday, November 27 in Leechburg. Activities will include photo ops with Santa, tours of the back of the house at the Sprankle Neighborhood Market, a story hour at the Leechburg Public Library, a scavenger hunt and a parade at 5:30 p.m. A free afterparty featuring the band Steel Mill Rising and a Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Marconi Club, River Avenue. • Sprankle’s Neighborhood Market, 117 Third St., will sponsor a Stuff the Bus event with the Salvation Army from 9 am to noon on December 11 at the market. Bring a new, unwrapped toy and receive a $ 5 coupon off the $ 25 Marketplace and a chance to win a Traeger Grill. Santa will make an appearance.

Lower Burrell

• Lower Burrell Volunteer Fire Company # 3 will escort Santa Claus around town to meet the children from 6 to 8 p.m. on December 7 and 8. Listen to Christmas music and look for the flashing lights.

• The American Legion will be hosting a community Christmas celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. on December 11 at the station, 1100 Wildlife Lodge Road. There will be cookies and hot chocolate, Christmas carols and photos with Santa Claus. Children can take their letters to Santa Claus and put them in the North Pole mailbox. Letters received before December 11 with a return address will be answered.

New Kensington

• The New Ken Shop Small Crawl will take place all day on November 27 in downtown Montreal. More than 40 businesses will be open and offer free samples and snacks.

• The celebration of the Community Day will begin at 5:00 pm on December 3 with the lighting of the tree at the corner of Ninth Street and Fourth Avenue. Mayor Guzzo’s Christmas dinner will be held at 6 p.m. at the Fourth Avenue Fire Hall. A parade will begin at 11 a.m. on December 4 and there will be a treasure hunt, free horse and carriage rides for children accompanied by a parent from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and a train exhibit and a village of bread spice in shop window at Modfinish.

• The Burrell-New Kensington Rotary Club will sponsor a free breakfast with Santa from 8 am to 10 am on December 4 at New Ken Social, the former Salvation Army Church, 1101 Fifth Ave. A pancake breakfast will be served and there will be gifts for the kids, a photo backdrop station and a Santa Claus appearance.

• A Christmas dinner and carol will be held on December 8 at noon at the Logans Ferry Presbyterian Church, 750 Church Street. A light lunch will be served and a song will be followed.

Apollo North

• Santa Claus will cross the city with the company of volunteer firefighters from 4.30 pm on December 11th. The route will start in the upper part of the borough, continue to the lower end, then to Pegtown.


• Christmas in Plum Creek will be 5:30 to 9 p.m. on December 2 at Plum Creek Park, 4575 New Texas Road. Santa will be arriving and there will be live reindeer, music, free hot chocolate, food trucks, a Santa Claus store, and children’s crafts and games. There is no parking at the park. A complimentary shuttle service will be available from 5:00 p.m. until the end of the event from the lower lot of Plum High School, St. John’s Church and Amplify Church.

• Plum High School, in collaboration with Rachel’s Challenge, will be hosting their annual Toy Drive Collection to benefit Toys for Tots from 6 to 8 p.m. on December 8 in the high school bus parking lot. Bring a new, unwrapped toy.


• Sprankle’s Neighborhood Market will sponsor a Stuff the Bus event with the Salvation Army from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on December 10 at the market, 270 W. Water St. Bring a new unwrapped toy and receive a $ 5 coupon off $ 25 $ for the Market and a chance to win a Traeger Grill. Santa will make an appearance.

Township of Springdale

Lunch with Santa will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on December 11 at Allegheny Valley Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, 851 Parkway Dr., Harwick. Lunch will be served and there will be little gifts for the children. Participants must live in Harmar, Cheswick or Springdale Township. Children are encouraged to write a letter to Santa Claus and bring it to the letterbox. Sponsored by the Allegheny Valley and Cheswick Volunteer Firefighters. Details: 724-274-4250.


• A free holiday celebration will be held from noon to 2 pm on December 5 at the First United Presbyterian Church, 913 Lock Street. There will be music, photos with Santa, a hot chocolate bar, crafts and food. Public reception.


The annual Jingle Bell Rock concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. on December 4 at the Casino Theater, Vandergrift. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Bands to be featured include Sourmash, Steel Mill Rising, Heidi and the Hellcats and Murphy’s 56 East Band. Cost: $ 10, in advance; $ 15 at the door. Township of Washington

The Union Presbyterian Church will have a drive-through Nativity display from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on December 12 at the church, 656 Route 380.

Western Deer

A Drive-Through Pancake Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on December 4 at the East Union Presbyterian Church, 292 E. Union Road. There will be festive stops along the parking lot for the kids to receive a bag of crafts and goodies. Children can say hello to Santa Claus and bring their list to drop off in his mailbox. Donations will be accepted for the benefit of church ministries and maintenance.
