A music festival is taking place at various venues in an east Lancashire town today.
DBL Town Music Fest 2022 will be held in Darwen from 1pm today (Saturday July 30) and will feature live music at several bars and clubs around town.
Organized by Darwen Bars and Leisure (DBL), which is run by bar owner and entrepreneur Gary Perkins, the event was organized in association with Youth Zone Darwen and Talk Ourselves Well, an organization that gives people in Darwen the opportunity to talk about poor mental health, illness, health and wealth.
Gary said: “This is an event by the city, for the city, and it’s a combination of all Darwen locations working together to deliver a day of live music, DJs, performances and even more.”
Kicking off at The Vault at 1pm, the festival will take place at venues including The Taps Bar, The Bank, The Cock Pub, Artisan, Spitfire, Bridge Street Social, Number 39, Olive Bar, Cin Cin, Sunbird Records and Millstone.
And with indoor and outdoor stages, it promises to be a massive day out for the city, bringing music lovers not just to the bars and pubs of Darwen, but to the high street itself.
There will be a stage in The Vault car park, and huge numbers – including a tribute to Little Mix – will perform inside the venue as the Darwen School of Music stages a takeover of Borough Road premises .
Live DJs will spin the decks throughout the day, with the event continuing late into the evening.
The festival is free and open to all.
