Elvis Presley Birthday Events

This week marks what would have been Elvis Presley’s 87th birthday. As always, Graceland and Elvis Presley Enterprises will celebrate the occasion with several days of events, reflections and concerts.

While luxury passes and packages are available, here are 5 things – both free events and paid shows available for individual purchase – that King fans can do to be a part of the festivities.

Elvis birthday events will include a special night tour of the Graceland Mansion.


Elvis Birthday Party and Graceland Mansion Tours Evening

5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Graceland and Elvis Presley Entertainment Complex in Memphis

Graceland will be hosting a special evening guided tour starting at 5 p.m. at the mansion. Fans will also be able to see Elvis Presley’s exhibits in Memphis (Automobile Museum, Presley Cycles, Archives Exhibit, Army Exhibit, ICONS Exhibit, and Elvis: The Entertainer). At 6 p.m., a birthday party will begin, with an Elvis Dance Party hosted by SiriusXM’s Elvis Radio DJ Argo at Presley Motors. There will also be an appearance and book signing with Dixie Locke Emmons – who dated Elvis in the 1950s – at the Elvis: The Entertainer gift shop. The party will include free appetizers and cash bars, a prize scavenger hunt as well as the Elvis trivia prize wheel. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Tickets: $ 90 for adults (11 years old and over); $ 58 for young people (5-10); children 4 and under are free.

A free daytime screening of "Long live Las Vegas" is scheduled for The Guest House Theater on Friday.


Screening of the film “Viva Las Vegas” and songs “

1:00 p.m. Guest House Theater, The Guest House at Graceland

One of Elvis’ most beloved feature films, “Viva Las Vegas,” receives free daytime screening at the Graceland Guest House. Fans can appreciate Elvis as the “go-go” guy and Ann Margaret as the “goodbye” girl as they roam the fun-filled capital of the world – and those in attendance can sing along to the film’s many memorable tunes. Seating has priority.

Elvis Proclamation Ceremony

8:30 a.m. North Lawn, Graceland Mansion

It’s an annual tradition early in the morning, as Elvis’ friends and family – including Priscilla Presley – cut a birthday cake on Graceland’s North Lawn in memory of the King. An Elvis Presley Day proclamation by Memphis and Shelby County officials will also be read. After the ceremony, fans can cross the street to Vernon’s Smokehouse in Elvis Presley’s Memphis, where a birthday cake and coffee will be served.

Tickets: both events are free

Conversations about Elvis

1:00 p.m. Guest House Theater, The Guest House at Graceland

The popular and always informative Conversations on Elvis panel format will have a special anniversary edition at the Guest House, as fans will be able to hear the stories of those who knew the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll best. Hosted by Tom Brown, the event will feature guest appearances from Priscilla Presley, Terry Blackwood – who performed with Elvis as part of The Imperials – and Elvis jeweler Lowell Hays.

Elvis' birthday weekend celebrations will end with a King Tribute concert, featuring Terry Mike Jeffrey and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.

7:30 p.m. Graceland sound stage

There’s no better way to celebrate Elvis than with his music. The Graceland Soundstage will host the Memphis Symphony Orchestra for the presentation of their annual Elvis Pops concert. Singer Terry Mike Jeffrey and his band will join members of the MSO for a musical salute touching every corner of Elvis’ catalog and career. The concert will include a special appearance by Priscilla Presley.
