BATHURST library members will be able to borrow new items even if the main building remains closed when the “select and collect” service returns from next week. Mayor Ian North says a contactless pickup system will operate from the foyer. Those wishing to use the service are encouraged to select and reserve items from the library’s online catalog; call or email the library to start the service (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.); then collect the items. IN OTHER NEWS AROUND BATHURST: The library says that available reserved items will be collected by library staff and that a text message or phone call will let members know when their items are ready for collection. The contactless collection point will operate from the library / gallery foyer from Monday to Friday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Members are urged to follow social distancing guidelines when using the Pick and Pickup service and to stay home if they are unwell. Returns can be placed in the chute at the front of the bookcase at any time. Members will need to bring proper ID and will need to check in using the NSW COVIDSafe Service check-in. Director of Library Services Patou Clerc said she encouraged the community to also explore the library’s website which offers a wealth of resources. “Existing library members already have access to the electronic library. If you are not already a member of the library, you can still access the online collections during the lockdown by registering as a temporary electronic member on our site. Web, ”she said. “This is a temporary membership, but it can easily be transferred to a full membership when the library doors reopen.” Library members can reserve items now and can call to start the pick and collect service starting next Wednesday, September 29. The screening and collection will replace the lockdown delivery service from the Bathurst Library to homes in the Bathurst area.
