HALIFAX – Neon Dreams, Classified, Catherine MacLellan, Les Hay Babies and Beòlach are among the first winners of the East Coast Music Awards 2021.
The awards were announced Thursday evening as part of a show broadcast live on ECMA’s social media platforms that included live performances and a special tribute to the late Rita MacNeil, a Hall of Fame inductee. Canadian authors and composers.
Among the first list of awards, Neon Dreams of Halifax took home the album of the year award for “The Happiness Of Tomorrow”.
The fan favorite artist of the year is Beòlach from Cape Breton, while the group’s “In Full Bloom” from PEI. Sorrey is the pop recording of the year. The Songwriter of the Year honors went to Catherine MacLellan, also of Prince Edward Island.
The remaining ECMA Awards will be presented on Sunday during a special virtual show hosted by Heather Rankin.
Next year’s ECMA Awards will be held in Fredericton, returning to New Brunswick’s capital for the first time since 2008.
