An offbeat vintage collector challenges the world of fast-fashion

DUBAI: American actress and singer Hilary Duff turned heads this week wearing a pair of heels designed by Lebanese shoemaker Andrea Wazen.

The ‘Lizzie McGuire’ star defended the brand’s Denver pumps in white at a press event for her upcoming ‘How I Met Your Father’ show, which premieres on Hulu on January 18.

The 10-episode comedy series is a sequel to the hit CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.”

Duff, who is also the producer of the series, will play the role of Sophie, the protagonist of the series, who tells her son how she met his father.

At the press event, Duff teamed the heels with a blue printed thigh-high dress by American label Rhode that featured a ruched skirt with a side ruffle, elbow-length puff sleeves and a scoop neckline.

“All that stuff about sitting in a chair from 9am to 7pm yesterday doing the press, but those shoes and that shiny lid were sassy,” Duff wrote to his 19.7 million Instagram followers, complimenting the designs of Wazen.

Duff is known for championing labels around the world.

In November, the star turned to a British-Afghan-Pakistani designer for the 2021 Baby2Baby gala at the Pacific Design Center in Hollywood.

The 34-year-old actress was a vision in a dazzling hot pink dress by British brand Osman, which featured a plunging neckline, dramatic sleeves and a thigh-high slit.

Duff isn’t the only celebrity fan of Wazen, however.

In fact, the Lebanese brand is shaping up to be the next big shoe brand to watch.

Since their launch in 2013, the brand’s strappy sandals and stilettos have made their way onto the pedicured toes of stars and it-girls around the world, including Beyonce, Megan Fox, Hailey Bieber, Khloe Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Addison Rae, all of whom championed Wazen’s designs.

Just this week, American actress Alyssa Milano wore the brand’s black Denver pumps during an interview with celebrity interviewer Steve Varley for her new Netflix movie “Brazen.”
