Natürlich besitzen CC-Lizenzen unterschiedliche “Freiheitsgrade”. NC (Non-commercial) beschränkt die Nutzung auf eine nicht-kommerzielle, ND (no derivatives) bedeutet, dass das Originalwerk nicht verändert, also nicht bearbeitet werden darf.
Trotzdem kommuniziert CC einfach und rechtlich bindend die Rechte, die die Öffentlichkeit an einem Werk hat, bzw. unter welchen Umständen die Nutzung erlaubt ist. Das ist ein entscheidender Vorteil gegenüber Werken, die dem uneingeschränkten Urheberrecht unterstehen. Mit denen darf man ohne Erlaubnis des Urhebers nämlich gar nichts anstellen. Die Rechteklärung entfällt bei CC also. Das spart Zeit, Nerven und ggf. sogar Geld.

Wirklich freie Bilder gibt es nicht. Es sei denn, sie sind Public Domain (gemeinfrei). D.h. der Urheber ist bereits mehr als 70 Jahre tot. Nach deutschem Recht kann man das Urheberrecht nicht abtreten. Man kann lediglich Nutzungsrechte einräumen. Und genau das tut man mit einer Lizenz, z.B. mit einer CC-LIZENZ. Da unterscheidet sich das Copyright vom Urheberrecht. In den USA z.B. können Urheber Werke komplett freigeben oder Dritten übertragen.

@MINZEL. Gerade für den Eigengebrauch sind die Werke doch gut nutzbar. Oder was meinst du mit Eigengebrauch? Deinen Einwand versteht nicht ganz.

Ich muss meinem Vorredner recht geben. Lizenzen in allen Ehren aber diese Bilder sind definitiv nicht frei. Alle Werke die unter einer CC-Lizenz fallen, sind allgemein sehr eingeschnürrt und für den Eigenbarf unbrauchbar. Laut Artikel, und natürlch der jeweiligen Lizenz, soll also ein kommerziell nutzbares Bild, welches verwendet wird, konform mit dem hauseigenen Angebot sein. Mal ganz ehrlich, wenn sich denn mal jeder daran halten würde gebe es ziemlich schnell keine kommerziellen Programme mehr. (Bis auf die, deren Produkte von großen Softwarefirmen kommen und damit ihre Icons/Bilder selbst herstellen) Daher ist es ein berechtigter Einwand das die Bilder nicht frei sind.
